One of the biggest challenges of this project was an old Victorian building with a restricted floor plan and a minimum amount of natural light. Even though this corner building receives light from two sides it still struggle with natural light. This problem was solved by expanding the existing light well into a glass structure which penetrates through each floor of the building. The glass structure created a sense of openness between the hotel and the bakery, as well as a visual connection. Additionally the second and third floor was open, giving a panoramic view of the bakery and coffee shop.
