Rock/Paper/Scissor Boutique
A small commercial space located in Beverly Hills on the famous Rodeo Drive houses the Rock/Paper/Scissor boutique. The shop acquires natural light on only two sides of the building, and resides on the corner of the block. The needs of the project included a retail area with dressing rooms, an office, a bathroom and storage capability. The biggest challenge in this project was working with a limiting space and expanding it to its fullest capacities.
For a very small space like the Rock/Paper/Scissor Boutique, an open area where dressing rooms and clothes racks could float from the ceiling, was visualized, illustrating a feeling of lightness. By incorporating organic shapes and mirror effects helped to create an illusion of a bigger space. Instead of using partitions walls, an illusion of separation with the use of curvilinear organic shapes was created, on the floor and by using different material finishes.
Using floating ceramic light fixtures as a backdrop, a simple window display is transformed in to a quasi theatrical set.
